Our UBC-12 Universal Band Decoder has many advanced features not found on the traditional decoder. This Decoder is the heart of the ShackLAN-4 antenna control system. It is responsible for obtaining band information from the radio and broadcasting the band and frequency data over the entire ShackLAN-4 network. Designed expressly for use with our ShackLAN-4 product line, the decoder does not have individual outputs for each band, rather each antenna switch, relay driver, relay controller, bandpass filter unit, etc., can be individually configured on how to respond to each band or frequency command. This provides a great amount of flexibility and control not available with the traditional band decoder. The UBC-12 also uses the band data from non-Icom radios, including band data outputs from Yaesu  and Elecraft K3, to automatically output a CI-V data stream on the CI-V jack to enable auto bandswitching on Icom amplifiers and other Icom accessories.
Configuring the UBC-12 for your radio is quick and easy using our GUI software. No need to set any jumpers or switches inside the unit. It gives you the ability to simply and quickly change the frequency limits for each band. Traditional band decoders come up short when you have multiple antennas on a band. The ShackLAN-4 system can handle up to 8 antenna configurations on each band. For systems with multiple antennas per band we highly recommend our ShackLAN-4 Control Center software but there are times you don't want to boot up the computer just to have a ragchew with your buddies. The UBC-12 gives you the ability to select a default antenna for each band. This antenna will be selected automatically in the absence of command data from the Control Center software, thus making basic operation of large stations a simple matter. The same applies to you RX antennas, such as beverages or K9AY loops.
