Updating the firmware
Updating the firmware in the ShackLAN units is a simple process but it does require the PC-1 programming cable available from Array Solutions. You will also need the programming software and the latest firmware files. The links for the firmware updates are located at the bottom of this page. Use the following procedure to update your firmware:
- Connect the programming cable to the processor board as shown in the diagram below. Be sure the cable is oriented as shown.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a serial port on your computer. Use of a USB-->Serial adaptor may or may not not result in correct operation.
- Power up the ShackLAN unit. If already powered up, power down and wait 5 seconds before reapplying power.
- Start the programming utility RFC.exe.
- Click on Setup-->Communications and select the serial port the programming cable is connected to.
- Click on Setup-->File Locations and set the entries to the folders where you installed the programming untility and firmware updates.
- Click on File-->Load Flash Image and select the .bin file for the unit you are updating. After selecting the file the software will start the programming process.
- After programming is complete, power down the unit, disconnect the programming cable from the processor board and reapply power. The firmware process is now complete.
