Power and network connections

Connecting power to the EI-2 interface may be done by supplying 12vdc to the power jack or from other ShackLAN devices via the NET connector. A power cable is included to connect to your station power supply. The white stripped wire is positive and the solid black wire is negative (ground).  Information on power and network connections is here. The EI-2 interface may be connected to other Shacklan devices such as other controllers, band decoders, stack controllers, etc. Connection to other devices may be made using the ShackLAN RJ-12 (modular) jacks using 6-wire modular cables. The two ShackLAN jacks are in parallel and either or both may be used to connect to other devices.

Configuration

All configuration of the EI-2 is done using the IpSetup utility. Download and run the configuration utility. The IpSetup utility is a stand-alone application and no installation is required. Apply power to the EI-2 and connect it to your computer network Now run the IpSetup.exe application. The utility should detect your interface.

IpSetup

In the NDK settings box enter your desired IP address. The first three numbers must be the same as your router or computer IP address. You can find your computer IP address, assuming Windows, by opening a command prompt and entering ipconfig and look for the IPv4 address. Set the Network Mask to 255.255.255.0, set the Gateway and DNS fields to 0.0.0.0 and then click on the Set button. Click on the Search Again button when it becomes available and the interface with the new address should appear in the list. Now click on the Launch Webpage button to continue the configuration.

EI2 Netowrk settings

Be sure the Addressing mode is set to Static.  NOTE: The EI-2 interface operates as a server. This means it only listens for incoming connections and does not initiate any connections. As such there is no need to set any other network parameters such as a gateway or DNS. The default ports are set to 5495 and 5496. If desired, these can be changed under the Incoming TCP Settings. Click on the Submit New Settings button at the bottom of the page to save your changes. After the page reloads click on the Serial tab at the top of the page.

EI2 Serial settings

On the serial setting page you need to the baud rates for both ports. Older units with v1 firmware use 9600 baud. Later units with at least v2 firmware require the baud rate to be set to 115200. Click Submit New Settings when done. This completes the configuration of the EI-2.
